Right then, I’m off on holiday. Prague’s calling, and I’ve got a date with Imagine Dragons (don’t judge) and the brilliant Declan McKenna. But just because I’m chasing beers and bad WiFi, doesn’t mean the new music slows down. Here are four new tracks and an EP that deserve a spin while I’m away — and trust me, these ones don’t miss.
🎧 The Ultra Violets – Honey Pie
Cornwall’s indie-rock firecrackers The Ultra Violets return with ‘Honey Pie’, a high-voltage critique of social media’s dopamine circus. Sonically punchy, politically sharp, and ready-made for festival stages, it’s like Royal Blood if they got existential on a surf break. There’s venom under the sweetness here; a track built for shouting into the abyss, drenched in British indie swagger and a punked-up conscience.
FFO: Royal Blood, Red Rum Club, The Pigeon Detectives
🎯 Spin if you’ve ever rage-quit Instagram.
🎧 Ghosts of Sunset – Fade
Ghosts of Sunset drop an emotionally loaded hammer with ‘Fade’, a hard-rock heartbreaker about addiction, loss and the cruel symmetry of self-destruction. Built on big choruses and soul-scorching lyricism, this is melodrama done right, the kind that burns slow, then explodes. It’s both a confession and a scream into the void.
FFO: The Verve Pipe, Skid Row, The Gaslight Anthem
🎯 One for night drives and loud headphones.
🎧 Long Island – Sweet Song
Huddersfield band Long Island are on a sugar-high with ‘Sweet Song’, a shimmering indie anthem made for your summer montage. It’s all heart eyes, sun-kissed hooks and rose-tinted feels, blending The 1975’s polish with Wallows’ charm. The kind of track that smells like SPF and teenage dreams.
FFO: Sea Girls, Fickle Friends, The Band CAMINO
🎯 Pack it for your next road trip playlist.
🎧 Dog Race – Return The Day (EP)
Dog Race don’t do half-measures. Their debut EP is five tracks of gothic unease, industrial synths and psychological disarray. ‘40 Winks to Wyoming’ and ‘It’s The Squeeze’ are dark-pop theatre pieces, with Katie Healy’s operatic vocals pulling you deeper into the fog. Think horror movie climax set to post-punk perfection.
FFO: Dry Cleaning, The Horrors, Siouxsie & The Banshees
🎯 A must for fans of the artfully unsettling.
🎧 Electric Litany – Diamonds
A glimmering cut from the upcoming Desires, ‘Diamonds’ is Electric Litany at their most refined. The track floats between eras, echoes of New Order and early Cure glide through Persian santoor textures and ghostly synths. It’s a reflection on illusion and truth, wrapped in beautiful melancholy.
FFO: New Order, The National, Slowdive
🎯 For existential daydreamers and post-punk romantics.
Enjoy the tunes while I’m off hunting Czech pilsners and screaming along to ‘Radioactive’. Back next week with more new music and probably a sunburn.
